Während das vierte Album von Five Year Mission langsam Gestalt animmt, gibt es über das Kickstarter-Projekt zum Album nur Gutes zu berichten. Mittlerweile unterstützen 114 Leute die Band, das Finanzierungsziel ist schon vierfach erreicht! Das hat die Band nun zum Anlass genommen, alle Unterstützer zu beschenken, wenn die magische Zahl von $6.500 erreicht wird. Noch sind 8 Tage und es fehlen nur noch knapp $150! Als Bonus gibt es dann einen bisher unveröffentlichten Titel, den sich nur die Unterstützer downloaden können:
"We thought about it, and we decided that when we hit $6500, we don't
want to give an otherwise unreleased song to whoever gets us over the
goal today. We want to give that song to all of you! That means if
ANYBODY puts us over $6500 today, EVERY backer will get the extra song.

of the other songs. We have all kinds of ideas while recording. Some

this song, we just had a lot of ideas, and there were too many to
contain on just one track. So we recorded an extra! Want to hear it,

Nicht so gut sieht es im Moment um das Projekt "Star Trek: Captain Pike" aus. Von den anvisierten $112.000 sind bisher nur knapp $76.000 im Töpfchen. Immerhin, mag mancher sagen. Bei der Vielzahl an Kickstarter-Projekten gerade auch im Star-Trek-Bereich ist das schon eine ganz hübsche Summe. Noch bleiben den Betreibern ein paar Stunden die restlichen 40.000 Dollar zusammen zu kratzen, aber es ist doch wohl eher unwahrscheinlich. Schauen wir mal, was daraus wird.
Die Liste der prominenten Unterstützer ist ja doch recht groß! (Wir berichteten) Und die Kosten konnten auch dank der Unterstützung des Teams von Star Trek: New Voyages (auch als "Phase II" bekannt) erheblich gesenkt werden. Diese würden ST: Captain Pike nämlich die Kulissen der TOS Enterprise zur Verfügung stellen! Außerdem konnte einer der im Moment begehrtesten Visual Effects Künstler gewonnen werden, Tobias Richter.

Und während ich dies hier schrieb, zwitscherte mir doch gerade noch ein Kickstarter - Projekt ins Haus! "For the Love of Spock" von seinem Sohn Adam Nimoy! Die Ähnlichkeit zwischen Vater und Sohn hat mich gerade echt umgehauen...aber schaut selbst:
How It Started
Last year, just before Thanksgiving, I
approached my dad, Leonard Nimoy, about the possibility of working
together on a film about Mr. Spock. I had skimmed through some of the
books on the making of Star Trek and felt there was so much more
to explore about the birth and evolution of Spock. And the timing seemed
right, as the 50th anniversary of Star Trek: The Original Series
was not that far away. Dad agreed that now was the right time, and that
he was 100% committed to collaborating with me on this project. He also
reminded me that we were (then) just days away from the 50th
anniversary of the start of production on “The Cage,” the original pilot
for Star Trek in which Dad first appeared as Mr. Spock.
